Campaign to End Pediatric HIV/AIDS (CEPA) Intern
GAA is looking for a committed, hard-working intern to support our Campaign to End Pediatric HIV/AIDS (CEPA); a dynamic advocacy campaign to scale up prevention, treatment, and care of pediatric HIV/AIDS in six focus countries in Africa: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Nigeria, Mozambique.
The CEPA intern will serve primarily as a research assistant, and will carry out the following activities:
- Conduct policy research and report on pertinent findings as it relates to pediatric HIV/AIDS, with a focus on Family-Centered Care and Nutrition; Early Infant Diagnosis and Treatment; Access to Appropriate Medications; Full Funding to Eliminate Pediatric HIV/AIDS; Global Fund Reprogramming; Human Resource Crisis; and Stigma and Discrimination
- Review and synthesize technical updates relating to pediatric HIV/AIDS programmatic and policy issues;
- Conduct research on country specific issues related to pediatric HIV/AIDS and the CEPA campaign
- Attend and participate in relevant pediatric and PMTCT+ policy meetings;
- Assist with the creation of public education materials, including newsletters, advocacy briefs, and policy papers.
- Assist in developing new CEPA related website content
- Provide administrative support to the broader Policy team as needed
The ideal candidate will:
Be familiar with international HIV/AIDS, child and maternal health (particularly in Africa); have experience in conducting literature reviews; have strong writing, research, and analytic skills; ability to work independently and with flexibility, a self-starter who can work with minimum supervision. Background in policy advocacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications essential.
GAA is unable to offer a stipend to interns. Internship is 15-20 hours per week.
